This is a letter I wrote praising the new show, Stargate: Atlantis. It was published in the first issue ever of the new magazine, Stargate SG-1. There were only four letters chosen and mine was one of them. I was shocked and amazed and very proud.
I looked forward greatly to the premiere of Stargate: Atlantis, almost more than the season opener of SG-1. I have to say that thus far I have not been disappointed with Atlantis. The characters are well written (and seeing McKay every week is fabulous—he was underused in SG-1) and seem to be adjusting well to being in another galaxy. Although I think there are things that are a little too easy, except for the first episode there haven’t been any problems with the base (Hide and Seek does not count, the problem with was something on the base, not the base itself), the show gives the feel of the first few season of SG-1. I will be very interested to see where the show goes from here and I have to say I am extremely glad to see that the Atlantis team is not overly concerned with re-contacting Earth. They knew this would most likely be a one way trip—no sense in worrying about going back home. To the producers, writers, directors, cast, and crew of Atlantis—thank you for giving us hope for the continuation of the Stargate universe. I look forward to the rest of this season and many more.
