THE LIGHTKEEPER

** #925734 Not An Image **

A solitary life it was for him
as lightkeeper on the shore,
yet he never let the light dim,
nor considered it a bore.

For years he sailed upon the sea,
and when the storms began
he looked for light to guide the way
and had faith in God and man.

Angry waves tossed and turned
his ship from side to side;
Never had he felt fear so deep
as the sailors with him died.

The ship was lost that very night
amid the cries of many men;
He prayed to God to save him,
then clung to hope of life again.

A lighthouse in the distance
shown its light and somehow he
was thrown onto the rocky shore,
a light keeper there to be.
