Paralyzed
Sometimes love just can't save all

Her sobs were so dry they screeched
like a fork on a dinner plate
causing dogs miles away to bark violently.

She was crumpled on the floor
her legs, forever paralyzed, had gone with him
her soul had gone with him.

Tears gouged bloody canyons on her cheeks
harsh blades icing down her chin
branding, red-hot, the realization.

He had been found without romance
an uneducated attempt at suicide
tendons razored through, bleeding from only one wrist.

She pressed her face on the gritty floor
incinerating her eyes with her guilt
likening them to what was left of her love

She was defeated
her love just wasn't strong enough
to save him.
