The Bunny
A dream, a stuffed bunny and an empty bed.

I dreamed last night

I saw your face

I awoke with a shiver to find the bed empty
Except for myself
And your bunny

I suddenly felt very alone and empty
Except for a pang of reassurance
As I stared at the bunny.

I remembered that you were with him
With his arms around you
And I felt cold          Very cold.

Then I looked at the bunny and smiled
There was a part of you with me
That he could never have

I went back to sleep feeling warm
Thinking of you
And holding the bunny.
