The Thinker at the Crossroads
By Doris Mackey

Alone upon the bench, unnoticed by the world
He sat watching as people passed,
And wondered where they went.
Some went right, some went left,
And some went straight ahead.

Alone upon the bench, unnoticed by the world
He sat watching as people passed,
And wondered why they went.
Some went right, some went left,
And some went straight ahead.

Alone upon the bench, unnoticed by the world
He sat watching as people passed,
And wondered who they were.
Some went right, some went left,
And some went straight ahead.

Alone upon the bench, unnoticed by the world
He sat watching as people passed,
And wondered where he should go.
He looked right and he looked left
And then went straight ahead.
