I can hear my mommy’s car turning into the driveway. She recently got a new car, but I have learned the sound of it and I can also hear her music pouring out of the open windows. As her car pulls into the driveway, she turns the radio way down. Her mommy doesn’t like it when she blasts the music, but my mommy loves listening to it loud and singing along at the top of her lungs. I like listening to her voice.
She’s coming up the steps now, humming the song she was just listening to and singing snatches of words, and I jump up so I can look out the window and greet her right away. I call hello out the open window and she answers me, saying, “Hello, Jordie, pretty girl. Mommy’s home.” Now that she’s in the house, I can see she has pulled her long brown hair back in a ponytail to keep it out of her eyes and glasses. She frequently wears it pulled back this way with something called a scrunchie since it is a quick and easy way to put her hair up. I like it when she wears it loose because then I can try to catch it when she bends over to kiss me. She flips off her sunglasses and tucks them into her pocket before bending over the gate to kiss me hello. It took me a while to figure out these glasses because it looks to me like she is breaking her glasses every time she takes her sunglasses off. Mommy doesn’t let me out of the kitchen right away because there are bags in her hands. The bags are the blue ones that sometimes contain treats for me. I hope this is one of those times. I know I ate the last of my chewies last night because Mommy said something about needing to buy more when she gave me one. I sniff the air, trying to figure out if she got me a chewy. I can’t tell if there is one, the plastic is ruining my nose. She comes back a few minutes later without her coat on and says, “Back off” to me. I jump down from where my front feet are on the gate and wait for her to unlock it. I’m so excited and I’m going to race into the other room as soon as I can to see if there’s a goodie waiting for me. Mommy always takes good care of me. When I was younger, I didn’t get big like I was supposed to and Mommy talked to the doctor for a long time about it. She even got me special food when she found out I couldn’t eat certain things. She reads labels really carefully when she goes to the store to make sure my goodies don’t have anything I can’t have. When I get sick, she cuddles me on her bed and pets me lots. She even feeds me special people food that she makes just for me. I’m in her office now and there is a goodie waiting on the floor for me. Mommy found something new for me to eat. I love it when she brings me new things because it means she’s thinking about me when she’s away from me. Mommy follows me into her office and sits down in her chair. Her funny box (computer) is beeping and she taps the keys in front of it; then laughs. “Aunt Liz says hello,” she tells me. I kiss her hand as she tries to pet me. I’ve only seen Aunt Liz once because she lives far, far away. Mommy is wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt and has already taken her sneakers off. She hates wearing shoes and socks but it’s a little chilly in the house today so her socks are still on. I’m happy to have on my fleece coat that Mommy bought me because it keeps me nice and warm. So that’s my mommy. She’s very special to me and I love her lots. The Dare from my sister, Genesisemo got married
