A Failed Attempt
My inept effort at meeting a challenge for Truth or Dare

I had a challenge put to me through "Truth or Dare? Do It for RAOK!"   by Jessiebelle™ .

It was to write a rhyming poem of all positive things about myself - 1,000 words. I managed just over 500 words and ran out of time. This is my crappy attempt. Sorry, Peacey, I tried and what I do have was difficult to manage! Now if you'd ask me to do this about someone else, it might have been easier. Maybe? Don't anyone challenge me to it though please - I face enough failure in my life. I liked the "focus on the positive" aspect of the challenge, but it was eye-opening to learn just how hard it is for me to say nice things about myself. I'm just glad to not be in the trap of saying bad things about myself! I'd rather just not talk about me outside of my journals. Okay, enough said - enjoy . . . or not.

Kim is a woman who knows what she wants
Even when her goals aren’t too clear.
She’ll set a course for adventure, throw out the map
And happily step up to steer.

Her eyesight’s amazing, and she can see far
Beyond the horizon and more,
She can see hidden things others don’t see
That her heart says she must explore.

Prone to day-dreaming and wishing on wishes
She won’t let grass grow ‘neath her feet.
She’ll take off her high heels, throw on some keds
And hit the hot, sultry street.

If someone’s in need, Kim will definitely stop
Lending a hand, her wallet, her heart.
She’ll stay until she knows they can stand on two feet
She’ll help them to make a fresh start.

When she looks in the mirror and asks herself this:
“Am I doing all that I can?”
She nods with conviction and happily sighs
“Born to help is my motto, man!”

When in front of the mirror, she likes what she sees
Though there are days when she isn’t so kind,
But she likes how she’s made and the way that she thinks,
She’s not perfect, but she doesn’t mind.

Her legs are quite leggy and go on forever,
And make up most of her height.
But despite the length, she’s rather petite
Sort of willowy, and, yes indeed, light.

A strong wind has blown her across a wide street
But rather than panic, she laughed.
When asked if she’d ever chase hurricane storms
She said, “No, I’ll be silly not daft.”

Never afraid to be who she is,
Her silly side’s one part she shares.
She shows it in the things she says and she does
What she writes, and in what she wears.

Not many people really look like those “dollz”
But no one would say that of Kim.
Her style is eclectic, from board room to bar,
She dresses well, but surely by whim.

She sings every day wherever she is
Her passion for music is strong.
She can’t live without it and truly believes
Every moment each day has a song.

Kim sometimes writes stories, sometimes writes poems,
But there’s something she likes even better.
If you ask what she’s scrawling on that scrap of paper
She’ll say, “Ideas for another newsletter!”

The woman’s quite gifted, but whispers it out
For she doesn’t feel good when she boasts.
But she knows she is witty and funny and wise,
Though she keeps it to journals and toasts.

In the kitchen, yes, this woman’s quite gifted
She prides herself much in her skill.
Not a cookie has burned, nor a souffle has fallen
And she’s certain that they never will.

Crafty and quick, she likes her small hobbies,
Like knitting and sewing and such.
She makes her own patterns and she’s good at it too.
Yes, she does have a rare magic touch.

This challenge she got is falling apart
Kim thought she could do it but she’s wrong.
Sixteen stanzas so far, less than 500 words,
She feels it is getting quite long.

With so much to do, that takes up her time,
This is not one she thinks she can manage.
For all of our sakes, we’re now at the end
And now say goodbye to the sufferage.
