         Morning Walk
Walking briskly through the snow
Not caring which way I go
I let my mind and thoughts flow.

Squirrels scurry to hide their food
Coldness is bad for my mood
Causing me to always brood.

Birds flying away from here,
Towards the warmth they do steer
For the winter they do fear.

Like birds who have taken flight
I wonder if it is right
Running from this winter bite.

To the warmth, I head back in
to my fireplace in the den
To write poetry again.
