Dear beautiful child, on this day of your birth,
I write this to welcome you onto the earth.
In those bright, newborn eyes, there's potential galore,
To be all you desire, and perhaps even more

There's a whole wide world out there just waiting for you,
And whatever your dreams, you can make them come true.
For your parents will lead you, and help you, and guide you
To nurture the talents that blossom inside you.
Whether music's your passion, or athletics, or art,
Ross and Mel will give you the best possible start.

They'll hold your small hand, and show you the way,
From first word, to first step, to the nerve-wracking day
When you leave their safe shelter, and head out on your own,
They'll be waiting for you to return safely home.
And although they'll be nervous, they'll be so proud of you,
As you grow to discover all the things you can do.

There'll be setbacks and hurdles, but with courage and grace,
You can overcome whatever challenge you face.
So hold your head high, and keep singing your song,
Keep that smile in your heart, and you'll never go wrong.
For your parents love you, so you're never alone
Even when you grow up and have kids of your own.

Teach them all your folks taught you, and show them you care,
So they know in their hearts that you'll always be there.
Hold their hands, give them guidance, and a soft place to fall.
Remember how briefly they're going to be small.
Celebrate all their milestones, and heal their distress.
With you as their parent, they'll truly be blessed.

But for now, in the meantime, just keep being you,
Embrace your uniqueness, and whatever you do,
Do what makes you happy, don't change to suit others,
For you'll always be loved by your father and mother.
They have high hopes for you, and they're ever so glad,
To be such a wonderful child's mom and dad.
