A Taste of the Calendar
A chained haiku, one for each month of a truly fruitful year.

January ice:
lemon scraped by silver spoons
frosty on the tongue

February treats:
fresh-baked raspberry muffins
inviting springtime

March’s sour stroll:
slow-squeezed lime sliced cold and thin
flavoring the year

April, kiwi green,
ripe with life like leaves anew:
seeded juicy fruit

May grapes on the vine
sweetly promise cloud-kissed days
warmed by mother suns

June strawberry fest:
red-stained lips and fingertips
waltzing under stars

July melon fields'
pregnant fruit reposes full,
awaiting harvest

August mango heat
bursting; ripened fire-reds
courting Autumn golds

September apples
introduce the year to fall;
pie-and-cider fed

October pumpkin
salted seeds are roasted crisp
jack-o-lantern lit

November oranges:
peeled strips of sunshine to
warm up the winter

December cherries:
cheeks and noses, scarlet scarves
bright against soft snows
