COME MY LOVE—a semighazal
Come, my love, why this distance? I pine so for your fragrance! I live away from you in An unbearable penance. At the slightest sound I look Searchingly, in hope, askance. I need not send my message Of love in common parlance. Is not most effectively Love conveyed in true silence? Tell me you miss me so, too, Come nigh me, shed this pretence. * Written in aa,ab, ab 7-7-7-7 format with the same end rhyme throughout. Had there been additionally an end refrain, that would make it a ghazal. M C Gupta 18 March 2005
