NUMBERED DAYS
Thoughts about a patient on death bed

NUMBERED DAYS

When a loved one is in bed,
With no hope of getting out;
When the days are but numbered,
And the outcome not in doubt;

When all the needles and tubes
Are not treatment but torment;
When assurances that “You
Will be alright” get frequent;

Then it is relatives and
Friends stop almost in their track.
They know for once that no more
Their loved one will now be back!
