A NIGHTMARE

It was dark outside. The heavy raindrops hit hard against the wet ground, along with the booming thunder. The wind was gusting up to thirty miles an hour, making a loud whistling noise. I was alone in an old, creepy house in the middle of nowhere.

The wooden floor was cracked in many places. Each time that my feet touched the dusty floor I had a feeling that I might fall through the cracks. This house always gave me the creeps. I even got scared at times. Today, I felt strange. Chills went up my spine. I was shivering and something inside me told me to leave this creepy place as fast as possible. That's what I decided to do.

I turned around as I always did when I left the house and saw something that made me freeze in place. A tall, weird-looking man was coming toward me. He wore a long black coat, and was all covered in blood. Horns were sticking out from his bald head. Two of his sharp teeth were hanging from his mouth, and all were yellow. His eyes were dark red.

When I finally came to my senses I dashed out the half broken door located to my right. Thick fog covered the area. In a distance I saw something that looked like a bridge standing over a river. As I got closer I realized that it was not a bridge at all. I had just entered the cemetery, a place that I have never thought of visiting in the near future. The full moon cast a shadow over the graves and I heard howling noises in the distance. I was about to leave when the gates slammed shut right in front of my eyes. I tried to open them but they wouldn't budge. I was about to turn around, when a hand grabbed my shoulder.

Terrified, I slowly turned around, to find a man in a long, black coat in front of me. I recognized him. He was that weird-looking man I had run into at the house. Behind him were about a dozen other creatures who looked like blood-sucking vampires. Many others were coming up from the graves. They were all coming toward me with their arms outstretched. I thought of making a run for it, but I was surrounded. There was no escape. Right that very moment my blood would be drunk by those blood-sucking, hungry vampires. I was going to become one of them. I would not even get to see the light again. I yelled at the top of my lungs, but that made me even more scared and hopeless.

Then, out of nowhere, somewhere far in the distance I saw light. It kept getting brighter and brighter. It told me that I should keep going. I would make it out of the cemetery alive. It was taking me in. One by one the vampires were turning into dust, their ashes falling to the cold ground. Soon all of them were a distant memory. The light got even brighter now, making me squint. When I finally opened my eyes, doing it very slowly, I was in the comfort of my own bedroom. At least that's what I thought.

I pinched myself just to be sure. It was true. I was really in my bedroom. The light that I saw was the sun coming through my open window. Outside it was bright and sunny. Everything was a distant memory. All that happened to me was just another horrible nightmare that was haunting me through the night.
