There's A Monkey On My Back
I wrote this poem when I was supposed to be paying attention in opera class, lol.

There's a monkey on my back
And he's clawing at my brain.
Picking, poking, scritching, scratching,
And it's driving me insane.

Stress I'm facing, time is racing
Got a million things to do.
Pressure's mounting, days I'm counting
'Till this madness will be through.

Midterms finished, stress diminished
For a moment, all too fleeting
Papers, juries, gotta hurry
For these tasks, they need completing.

Stubborn monkey, stop your chewing!
My poor mind you are undoing!
Just can't shake it, gotta fake it
In a terror-sweat, I'm stewing.

Oh, monkey on my back, will you ever go away?
Don't you realize just how many things I have to do today?
Please believe me; if you leave me,
Then my life you'll be improving.
No more drama, no more trauma,
I just gotta keep on moving.

Stop attacking, please stop snacking
On my poor, beleaguered brain
Oh, you naughty flea-bag monkey,
Please stop driving me insane!
