I walk through this desert of time,
Waiting for the next dune to rise and fall, So I can see the other side, To find what I shunned, If only I could walk away, From this desert of impersonality, This life of mediocrity, So much lost already, I fear I'll lose the light that shone within me, All these years through changing pace, Then what have I gained, But pain filled memories of bitter tears, The sun that warms the sand, Creates a facade, Protecting a rotten core, Of secrecy and double talk, Pat your back and watch you fall, In this land be careful where you walk, But also where you talk.
