Elizabeth, my friend,
died in a car crash.
After that day, I felt
sadness and anger.
That day, I always remember.

Why did she have to die?
Her death left my heart empty.
It is so hard to say goodbye
to the ones you love the most.

After her tragic death,
I vowed to not speak of her.
Her death inspired me to try
to find the courage in my heart.

Every year,
on the night she died,
I made a paper crane and
placed it on her grave.
I said my last goodbyes.
I will always remember her.

Author's Note: This poem is based on a true story. Four years ago, my grandmother died, and this poem reflects how I felt when she died. Even though I didn't know her well, I felt very sad because she was part of my family.
