Love Was a World Apart

I went through my whole life
Bearing only heartache and strife,
Left to wondering about many things,
Including the happiness love brings.

But love couldn’t be found,
And I looked all around,
After each man broke my heart.
Never knowing love was a world apart.

I have settled for less,
It just wasn’t the best,
Thinking any man would do,
I knew his love was untrue.

Another life comes to an end,
This time my heart won’t mend,
I don’t have the energy to restart,
Didn’t know love was a world apart.

I survived all these years,
Shedding all these lonely tears,
True love I couldn’t boast
While moving from coast to coast.

Then, from out of the blue,
I finally encountered you.
Love has found this old heart,
Yes, love was only a world apart!
