HOW TO WRITE AN ACROSTIC

How to write an acrostic
On a phrase or sentence,
Without its looking like one--
This is what we’ll discuss.

On this there’s no compromise:
Write with the due letter.
Rhyme it if possible but,
If not, ensure rhythm.

To write in free verse, breaking
Each line haphazardly,
Almost in random fashion,
No, don’t do it that way.

Always ensure rhythm by
Counting all syllables.
Rhyming may be difficult,
Only meter may do.

Surely you can appreciate,
That syllables arranged,
In a definite pattern
Create a good poem.
