Piano Man
Quizmo LaGrande

I’m in love with a piano;
It reminds me of a man—
Fair and handsome, rich and tan,
Bold, dynamic,
Upright,
Grand!

With golden wood and golden tone,
Never flat and seldom sharp;
Oft times a brave staccato,
Yet gentle as a harp.

A ragtime man in ragtime clothes,
A conductor in a tux.
A singing virtuoso.
My private music box.

With many keys to all my doors,
Each a secret to unlock.
Some ebony, more ivory,
Dark, light, each take a stock

To heighten my insistence
Knowledge gathered in my hands
Beyond my vain existence,
A wish of fingering this man

I’m in love with a piano;
At last I understand,
It plays me to perfection--
Bold, dynamic,
Upright,

Grand!
