Lonely but Not Alone
I woke up feeling melancholy and started writing about it.

Sometimes it's hard to be alone
No one to call my very own
It's been so long I can't recall
The last time I let my heart fall

Just to feel a tender touch
Would bring me joy; would mean so much
And just to feel a glance my way
Would bring me glee; would make my day

Just to hear some kind words spoken
Would mend my heart, but alas, it's broken
By the loneliness that surrounds the air
Don't I matter? Doesn't anyone care?

It's been years now, since I've fallen in love
I pray in earnest to the Lord above
Won't you send someone to care for me
I can't go on living in misery

Then a friend will call, and that's not all
It seems they've run into another brick wall
They tell me that they need some assistance
And instantly it melts my resistance

Love is not something just to be taken
Those who think so are sorely mistaken
It's for giving sometimes; when my heart pines
I reach out to others; my sisters and brothers

For true friendship is much, much better
Than reading through many a love letter
'Tis music to my soul; it makes me whole
Like hitting a home run, or scoring a goal

So when I'm feeling down, or feeling blue
I call on my friends; I call on you
Can you be there - do you even care
We have much in common that we can share
