Modern Woman
From a painting of women in ancient Greece; paralleled in my mind with today's women.

We are supposed to be
The women of a new century-
What is that?

There is no need to bend
To the infant whims of the men-
Am I right?

The slave is obsolete...
There is no female here to beat-
Is it true?

Imperials don't exist.
They've disappeared into the mist-
Have they, really?

The obedient girl is a thing of the past.
She does what she wants-at last!
Doesn't she?

We are supposed to be
The women of a new century-
What is that?
