WHAT'S LEFT

What’s now left for me in life?
You have for ever gone.
My heart beat only for you,
For you had my eyes shone.

We were two bodies, one soul.
With you gone, I am lost.
I wish I could be with you
Whatever be the cost.

I’m a shadow of myself,
My walk’s that of the dead.
You had always known my heart,
Which now remains unread.

I no longer wish that I
Be in high spirits now.
I don’t crave an agile step,
Nor, song on lips allow.

In separation from you,
I constantly repent.
I wish to soar up to you,
Casting mortal raiment.

* Written in abcb 7-6-7-6 format

* Written for the contest "Lexi's Poetry Challenge where a poem had to be written around the prompt—“What’s left”.
