Pitter Pat
A poem about Halloween.

Ghost, Goblins, Gremlins, Spooks-
Once again it's that time of year
For that all familiar eerie cheer.
Witches, Spirits, Devils, and Wolves-
They fill the night
With lots of fright.

Caldrons boiling…
With outrageous ingredients
(eye of newt, ear of bat)
Smoke fills the air.

Capes, Cowls, Fangs, and Black Masks…
Intended to scare
Wanting a treat
Instead of a trick.

Creaking Coffins,
Heavy Chains,
Found in old mansions
Intended to hold the dead…
Too bad they're
Too old
To work.

Candles that never stop burning,
Hearts that never stop yearning.
Pitter pat!
Tit Tat!
It's All Hallows Eve,
And that's all it will ever be.
