Ember Spirit
The Second Installment in my first Poetry Series.

Swirling through the leaves,
You burnt down all my trees.
My ward, that has been charred,
Now surrounds me with fire.

Ember Spirit, what have you done?
The price is paid under your sun.
I thought I knew you but
You were just an image.

Confused and scared of your power,
Here I lay for many an hour.
Still unsure of your true nature,
I will dance with your flames.

Your light has made me blind.
Or did I shape you from my mind?
This pain does not falter,
For I am your prisoner.

Always the one to commit a blunder.
My world has been torn asunder.
From your cage of flames,
I plead for my release.

Knowing what isn't true,
And trying to believe,
Reminds me of the mistake.
If I can just reclaim myself.
Perhaps then I will share
Why I did see what is not there.
