Endless Ripples

A young man sees what he has to do,
an old man recalls what he's done.
Both are searching for what is true,
each in need of help from someone.

A young man pours over his blueprints,
an old man adds a page in his book.
A young man seems to be so convinced,
the old see the young with wise looks.

A young man's fortune still awaits him,
an old man's is already amassed.
A young man works out hard in the gym,
while an old man takes a rest at last.

Time, an ally on the side of the young,
as the old grow tired of counting days.
A young man has a song to be sung,
the old man said all he had to say.

Life is the greatest story ever told,
and the old know there's no magic wand.
No real rainbows, or a pot of gold,
Life's like endless ripples on a pond.
