The sea is always there, surging in my blood,
Swelling like a tide, within me feelings flood, My whole life's always revolved around the sea, A perpetual presence that means so much to me. I live a hundred miles from the nearest shore, Serves to make me aware, makes me feel more, The sea's seduction as it's daily out of reach, Of the elation when again I stand upon a beach. I love the sea's many moods as it ebbs and flows, The passion it evokes in me, with the motion grows, Until it is the very life-blood pulsing in my veins, My soul sucks in its essence, like flowers drink the rains. I stare at the horizon, a line 'twixt sky and sea, The noises and the salt spray are as one with me, Flecked white foam's atop each wave that's curled, I feel the awesome power-pull of all seas in the world. At home, far inland, with no sea in sight at all, I gaze at the waves in the sea picture on my wall, While wistfully waiting, impatient for another chance, Sea fevers all my life have led me a merry dance.
