A dark sky looms,
With clouds of gray. Praying for sunlight, To show me the way. The days grow cold, More so each day. When will it all end, Please take it away. Poke my shoulder, And tell me I’m dreaming. Poke my shoulder, And make sure I’m breathing. On this new day, Comes a faint hope. A dim spark within, A new way to cope. I plant my feet, Untie the rope. Perhaps life anew, No reason to mope. Poke my shoulder, And tell me what’s real. Poke my shoulder, And help these wounds heal. Your smiling face, Helps me inside. We sit and we laugh, In you I confide. Don’t turn away, Don’t run and hide. Stay with me awhile, Help me turn the tide. Poke my shoulder, And release all my pain. Poke my shoulder, And my soul will remain. You are my light, In this dark land. You show me the way, Walking through the sand. The sky turns blue, A moment so grand. Two souls united, Walking hand-in-hand. Poke my shoulder, And tell me, “I love you.” Poke my shoulder, And I begin anew.
