The Pond
A serene little poem about my hiding place.

I find myself sitting on a tall hill
Soft green grass all around
Overlooking a sparking blue pond
The water ripples
In a calm, cooling spring breeze
Birds gliding from tree to tree
Singing their melody –
A song about life’s simple joys
Rays of sunlight warm my skin
As the gentle breeze cools
In a strange cycle of balance
People stroll along the walkway
A boy and his father catch my eye
They cast their lines into the water
An insect buzzes around my ears
Trying to say “hello”
The buzz is welcome
A calm away from the buzz of traffic
A retreat hidden by the shadows of trees
Sharing my little secret place
With nature and people alike
All green and alive
No dismall gray of concrete
No red and yellow painted signs
Only myself and this solitude
