Seventeen

The soft bickering
of seventeen years ...
enough for now.
But seventeen years ...
is never enough,
even when compared to
a lifetime without.
Yet ... it must suffice.
For seventeen more are not promised
to those lucky to fall in love
later in life.

The soft bickering ...
bittersweet to ears of one
who still waits for love.
