Freefalling
A love poem for my husband--a counterpoem to "killing with kindness"

Freefalling

I am as close as you wish
like a dish of ice-cream
spooning in your mouth.

I am as far as the starlight
awash in the drift of your eyes.

I am tethered to your tenderness
lashed with lacings
of safety and trust.

I balloon through the universe
a mute parachutist
freefalling
into love.
