My eyes watch them.
Playing in the sun,
glistening tanned skin,
wet sweaty hair and thick conditioned muscles

My ears hear them.
Yelling strong words of
encouragement through clenched teeth,
after errors or points, or fumbles or scores.

My stomach growls with their hunger.
Pangs of determination.
Driving them beyond exhaustion;
To reach a common goal.

My soul senses their struggle.
Embracing the battle as my own,
every movement
executed with controlled purpose.

My heart rejoices in their victory.
Celebrated with teammates,
trophies and photographs
hugs and smiles.
