Midnight Lotus
Oops! Maybe not a pantoum--still a nice poem about the Amazon Water Lily.

The full moon of July is the Lotus Moon

Midnight Lotus

A sliver of light;
white flowers on black water.
In the dark of the night
pale petals open to beetle suitors.

White flowers on black water
seducing with honeyed scent.
Pale petals open to beetle suitors;
soft anthered threads of entrapment.

Seducing with honeyed scent
lotus blossoms call to lovers.
Soft anthered threads of entrapment
unspooling from the heart of the Other.

Lotus blossoms call to lovers
in the dark of the night.
Unspooling from the heart of the Other,
a sliver of light.
