It Took Another

In her eyes
There is no beauty
When looking in a mirror

Nothing to make her stand out
Another no one
Lost in the crowd

Insecurity
Feelings of worthlessness
Overwhelm her

Caring not what happens
No reason to worry
Who would miss her

Thoughts of despair
Pierce her soul
Turning her world dark

Something’s missing
But she knows not what
She is lost

Someone notices her
Among the crowd
Sees her beauty in and out

Knows her worth
To family and friends
And to himself

Feelings of love
Engulf him
Someone worth dying for

Seeking to ease her pain
He extends his hand
Offering love she unknowingly seeks

She grasps his hand
And steps from the darkness
Into his arms

Feelings of self-worth
Flood her mind and soul
She is found

Authors Note: The poem was written for my wife on how she felt before and after we met. I know this from reading her journal entries from a few years ago. (With her permission of course.) Please refer to her poem on the subject at "Invalid Item
