It was the beginning of the end that autumn day.
You touched my cheek and kissed me goodbye.
I loved you so, as you said you loved me, too.
"It's not forever...don't cry."
It's only for a while, we'll keep in touch.
Yet, that's the last word I ever heard.
Forever I vowed to wait for you.
Life went on and forever became too long,
So, I married another.

Never has a day gone by that I dismiss you.
You are still planted in my heart
I feel you with every beat
You're the blood through my veins.
So strange, I cannot explain.
Within my mind, you're tucked away.
For a rainy day, there you'll stay
As if you will someday return
I know that can never be.

We each have separate lives.
Has it not been years?
My heart just won't lie.
I smell your cologne as if yesterday.
I still taste your lips upon mine.
Ghost of past, our lasting farewell,
No touch has ever compared.
The way we absorbed each other's love
First love, always most remembered

Endless love, my only love is truly you
I wonder if yours was really true.
How long would forever have been?
Think of me, do you?
I cannot believe that forever meant never,
Because like a soul to heaven,
I am still drawn to you.
Forever has never felt quite right.
I end the chapter and try closing the book,

But there's always "you" in all that "I" do.......

To be continued.
