Yeah, ole Sally and me, we’re a right fine pair, We’ve been ridin’ the range wif out nary a care. Fer twenty some years we’ve lived a western life. With my ole hoss bein’ the closest thing fer a wife. Now ole Sally here, has become quite a nag, she’s gittin’ long in the tooth ‘n’ her back sure do sag. She was once a fine filly, way back in her day, strong, smart ‘n’ fast, a right purdy li’l bay. And I was one strappin’ figger of a man, settin’ tall in the saddle like only a cowboy can. We made quite a team in all dem years, wrangling dem doggies and longhorn steers. I’ve roped ’n’ I’ve branded, dug a post hole or two. Even handled the chuck wagon, t’weren’t nuffin’ I wouldn’t do. We’ve been on long cattle drives, from El Paso ’n’ Timbuktu, to Cheyenne ‘n’ Laredo, that’s jest to name a few. Now Sally and I are tired, we’ve worked hard fer our pay. We’s lookin’ for bed ‘n’ barn, come the end of our long day. We’ve had our last ride, ‘n’ due a final rest. Fer ole Sally and me, yeah, we were the best.
