YESTERDAY

Yesterday - I was in the depths of despair,
unable to think of anything but you;
I could almost hear your voice, see your face
as you turned away with the words that
cut me so deeply I thought I'd die...
But that was yesterday, and today I live
for better days ahead. to feel the sun
upon my face once more, no more tears
and no more tangled web of lies...
You are gone - out of my dreams and heart,
yesterday was bad, but today I look ahead
to a world without you and even if
the phone doesn't ring, and no letter comes
I can survive the pain of your leaving.
There will be many more yesterdays
before I completely forget your touch,
but each day it gets easier and soon
yesterday - will be a memory.
