HAPPINESS IS JUST A SMILE AWAY

I saw the way you watched him
When he slowly walked away.
I heard the tremble in your voice,
Saw the tears in your eyes today.
You may be sad and lonely
And times seem just too tough.
A mind that’s filled with sorrow
Makes facing each day mighty rough.

You’re far better off without him,
Without those promises of gray.
Leave him buried in the past,
Happiness is just a smile away.

You thought that he loved you,
So you gave him all you had to give.
It never was enough for him
And the life he chose to live.
He just could not be trusted,
With his lying, cheating ways.
His words were not black and white
But ever different shades of gray.

Shed not one more teardrop,
Forget thoughts that make you sad.
The clouds will drift away,
Leaving more than what you had.
Turn your back upon the memory
Of this sad, unhappy time.
