Author's note: I do not own Severus (though I wish...). He and the other characters mentioned belong to Ms. Rowling.
********************************************** May 16 I loathe him! Absolutely loathe him! Just because he's so bloody popular, he thinks he can treat me like dirt. All I was doing was sitting beside the lake studying when he attacked me. Showing off for his thick friends. He's such a useless prat! Then, to make things worse, Lily comes along to "rescue" me. She is the love of my life, but I should be protecting her! I'm afraid my male pride got the best of me and I called her an awful name. What have I done? The look on her face struck such fear into my heart. What if she never forgives me? I have to go visit her. Tonight. I shall even sleep outside the bloody Gryffindor Common Room if I have to! She must know I wasn't being serious. Her friendship is the one thing I value above all else. Surely she knows that! *********************************************** May 17 My life is over. She is ending our relationship! My heart has crumbled into a thousand pieces. Mulciber and Avery suspect something is wrong with me, but I'll NEVER tell them the truth. Oh, Lily! Why did I have to be such a fool? Why couldn't things have been different between us? I will never love another woman as long as I live. This I swear. ********************************************** May 28 Though my heart remains broken, I've decided to plunge completely into learning the Dark Arts as a way to distract myself from the pain. Lucius has entrusted me with an intriguing secret. He is in the possession of a diary. And not just any diary, but one that belonged to the Dark Lord Himself. Why Lucius has chosen me to be privy to this information is suspect. I believe he is trying to coerce me into being part of something that has lately only been rumours. Or so I thought. Until I saw the diary for myself. Lucius himself demonstrated how it functioned by writing on the seemingly blank pages. I was allowed a brief glimpse into Tom Riddle's world and I must confess I am now very intrigued. Sadly, Lucius is very fierce about keeping the diary unto himself. He was only willing to show me a small bit about the Dark Lord's early life, just enough to capture my interest. Indeed, he must have an ulterior motive. I am frustrated that he seems bent on treating me like this. I do not relish the idea of being a sheep to be shepherded by anyone.
