Just an image Prompt: "I just spent the entire day researching and writing a research paper about Ruth 4. I think I will ask a question based on Ruth today. Then we'll go back to Proverbs.

Why do you think the unnamed next-of-kin refused to redeem the land when he found out Ruth came with the land? After all, she was a foreign widow and basically a slave. She would have added value to his estate in that respect."

I spent the entire day yesterday writing a 1500 word paper about Ruth 4:1-10 and listening to some seminars playing in the background that I have to have for my licensure. I have a good skeleton now. Today I have to rip the paper apart and rewrite it. If you really want to learn about the Bible try writing exegesis papers about passages of it. Exegesis is when you take a passage of scripture and do a deep dive to research its meaning. You read scholarly papers about it and search the various aspects of the background. It can take hours to do a good exegesis but you learn tons about the culture and the Bible.

Today's prompt is about Ruth and Boaz. It asks why the unnamed next-of-kin refused to redeem the land when he found out that Ruth came with the land. Ruth was a foreigner living in Israel. Worse yet she was a widow. For all intents and purposes, she was Naomi's servant or slave. If the unnamed next-of-kin had redeemed the land he would have bought Ruth with the land. He did not have to marry her as many assume because she was not a citizen. The right of levir or the Jewish law stating that the next-of-kin of a deceased man had to marry the deceased man's wife and have a child with her in the deceased man's place did not apply. Ruth was essentially a slave. No. I believe there was another reason for the next-of-kin's strange behavior. I am going to postulate in my paper today that the next-of-kin turned it down because he knew that Boaz was either married to Ruth or wanted to marry her. The next-of-kin in the city gate would have been well aware of the flames between Boaz and Ruth. He backed out because he respected Boaz and was not about to interfere in Boaz's personal affairs. I believe that is exactly why he backed out. Ruth was a slave. She would have added to the value of his estate. Yet he stated that he did not want to jeopardize his inheritance. Incurring the wrath or the jealousy of a wealthy, powerful man like Boaz is the only logical explanation for this statement. If Boaz got jealous over Ruth the next-of-kin's estate could well have been threatened. My paper will reflect this position and subject it to scholarly review. We'll see how it goes over.

Share a recipe or something about food."

Food is something I need to slide away from a little bit. I am 275 pounds and I should weigh 180 pounds. I am way over weight.

My favorite food is lasagna. We have it around here periodically. I could eat my weight in it or their baked sphaghetti, which reminds of my mom's. They make it the same way.

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.”― Abraham Lincoln"

I don't think the politicians are the problem with our nation. I think the problem is the media. They report only what meets their agenda and pushes their agenda. Objectivity is gone the wayside. The media will actually delete posts that do not agree with their agenda and block people who speak their hearts. It is disgusting to watch.

Blog City image small Prompt: "How are you keeping yourself occupied with Covid?"

I attend Regent University online. I sit at my computer 14-16 hours per day doing school work.
