To follow the path


Would that I could see through the trees
and stay the path life's set for me.
But paths grow faint and I ramble
on my own - a dreadful gamble.

Should wordly cares make weak my knees,
would that I could see through the trees
of worry hemming me all 'round
and glean what wisdom may be found.

Could any fail to recognize
what sorrows cloud and dim my eyes?
Would that I could see through the trees
and from heartache enjoy surcease.

Stood any staunchly by my side,
I'd gladly in this world abide
and shun Death's permanent release.
Would that I could see through the trees.
