Does God want us dead?
Well, if you believe the Genesis story then no.
God wants us all to live in perfect harmony with God and nature.
But Adam chose through Eve's offering to eat the fruit of good and evil.
This assumes that neither Adam or Eve could resist the Fruit of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
And God knew this, "Let us guard the fruit of Eternal Life from them.
Lest they become like us."
Nevertheless, they had a choice, and they blew it.
Deuteronomy 24:16 states, "The children shall not be punished for the father's sin."
Unless God knows we would all flunk the test in Genesis...
