A poem a day for the month of April, National Poetry Writing Month
#1048298 added April 16, 2023 at 4:10pm

"forgive us our trespasses"
"forgive us our trespasses"

I'm quick to say "I'm sorry"
even when I believe
         I've done nothing wrong.
I know I have no filter.
and tend to cannonball
into the pool. So saying "I'm sorry"
doesn't hurt me a bit.
                   It's probably warranted.

I've long since made amends
for my deliberate transgressions
of which I am very aware
and continue to carry their burden.

My intentions are never
                             to hurt another,
and if I have done so here,
                                        I'm sorry.
                             ~~~Judi Van Gorder
