Autumn In Bloom

It is just the other day,
that I hacked down the
seven foot stalks of the
giant sunflowers,
curling a bit in my hands
showing off the
best flowers and boasting color
for the end of summer.
I watch cautiously, the
children gone back to school,
their voices no longer filling
the abandoned corner lot,
where they parked their bicycles
and stopped to share secrets.
The tomatoes are almost all picked,
viewed from the porch banister
perhaps for one more good day.
While sitting in the kitchen,
with my coffee,
I think fondly of having been
part of Writing.com as we
celebrate it's 22nd birthday with,
first, windy signs of the changing
seasons. From my window
green is soon to turn to gold
and red. Why, how magical
the landscape will soon be!
It is a time when we
drive out into the country,
catching the dizzying fall of
leaves,
just to know the awesome
picture of the
patchwork scenery.
I marvel over the writing we
have done that comes
upon me in a flash,
knowing that describing the wooden
squirrel house would be another
joy we'd have once again,
filled with acorns.

So, damn the chill and the
nuisances.
It will be autumn soon. Get
out the wraps. I stay strong on
loving nature taking its course
happy to await the next season
in bloom.
