Detroit (ii) 'lark'
[ASR] Weaving the names of automobiles with other images of Detroit.

Detroit

(ii)

♠♠♠♠♠

I swim under the river
encased in my Studebaker
surrounded by Buicks and Fords,
the brick of Windsor, proper, staid,
behind me, the glass of Renaisance
above me, the broken bottles of beer
busting beneath my tires.

The light at the end of the tunnel
welcomes me to this motor town
as my Lark sings to me in Motown moans
this grey winter day.

And I stop
in the name of love
and pay it homage.
