Detroit (vi) 'candlelight'
[ASR] Some irony about the life of Henry Ford who was born and died in Dearborn.

Detroit

(vi)

♠♠♠♠♠

Cruise down the river,
cross the lake,
come to the mansion
Ford built down
on old Fair Lane.
Tour the turbines, visit the rooms,
flush the fifteen toilets,
ready for the truckloads of turists.

Consider how the rich and mighty
stirred their drinks
with homemade ice,
how Tommy Edison
designed this monolith
self sufficient with
it heat and power and light,

and how one day in 'forty-seven
the River Rouge left its banks
knocking out the power at night
and the powerful Henry Ford
died by candlelight.
