Detroit (xi) 'moon'
[ASR] Thinking of a friend. Detroit lies between us.

♠♠♠♠♠

Detroit

♠♠♠♠♠

And the same full moon rises in the east
on the other side of Detroit
where the highways meet and
flow above the gleaming river,
below the streaming river.

One lake dumping into another:
Huron, Saint Claire, Erie,
onward to your home.

I'd gladly greet you
where the waterlilies rest
or sit beneath the lions of Belle Isle
spitting at this moon.

But it's too late to give up hope,
for peace too soon

Maybe under the Fist-of-Ages,
perhaps on a cloudy winter's night of gloom
when the Red Wings and Sabres fight.

But thinking of you tonight
I see far above these towers
the Lady of Detroit.
She holds a harvest moon.
