Detroit (xv) 'change'
[ASR] Between urban removal and renewal, some things remain the same. Not much.

Detroit

(xv)

♠♠♠♠♠

Hudson's dust has settled
but Fox Theater gleams

It seems some skirmishes are won
in this shabby city

So much is lost

The trees long cut to widen roads,
the heritage of labor

Even Ford's legacy is frought with contradiction

No fiction is stranger than its rise and fall

No irony more poignant
than a city built with cars
moving ever elsewhere
down some highway

Their names roll down the tongues:
Buick, Dodge and Olds,
the Model T of Ford.
