LIVING TOO LONG: an acrostic
LIVING TOO LONG: an acrostic

To be or not to be,
Harboring this one doubt,
Every day of the long
Years that they have to live;

How much one wishes that
A life different and
Varied they could have lived
Existing in substance.

But, alas, they have lost
Energy of the mind.
Empty in heart they feel
No desire left at all!

Love for living itself,
In fact, from life has gone.
Verily they are now
Indifferent to life.

No hope, no ambition;
Gone is faith in themselves.
To be or not to be,
Only this is their thought:

“Old age is a big drag,
Life comes to a standstill.
Oh, too long we have lived.
No more we wish to live.

God, why not call us back?”
