I thought about taking a day off. Too emotionally wrung out with boredom to sit in front of a computer and write. But, I can't have a 'blue' month if I don't blog every day. Sunny here. Just ran into Michela who runs the Writing Program here. She hails from Buffalo (Elmwood). I told her I need to write a poem about hemorroids. Also, have to find her a few Kansas poems for her publication. The theme is evolution. Forum's topic today was on the controversy in Kansas over Intelligent Design, which is touted by the Board of Education but opposed by the Science community as not being scientific. Good presentation. Next week we get the head of the Board of Education. THAT should be interesting. Why does the image head-on-a-platter come to mind? How about a poem on the (de)evolution of the Kansas Board of Education? I usually don't do political satire, but rutabagas would be a good concrete image to use as a starting/ending point. Short sketch from the 23rd of April, 2004. There is a photo taken at NSU in Oklahoma that goes with this, so it is time I found it and learned how to do images at WDC: Hanging on Chrysanthemums, sweet fragrant coral mounds, adorn our path. Faces: copper, yellow, pink and red peer back at us. Sun plays with shadows among their rounded forms. The heat of Autumn slows our gaze. We smell their hope that won't let go until the wintry blast when snow will surely blanket them with sleep. [161.105] |
