Why
Should I,
When I cry,
Be not caressed?
When I am oppressed,
My feelings are suppressed,
Why, then, I should not revolt?
Why not from my harness I bolt?
How long shall I be harassed by all?
No, one day this slow death of mine must stall.



· An etheree is a 10 line poem, usually unrhymed, where the number of syllables is 1 in line 1, increasing step-wise to 10 in line 10.

· The present etheree, however, has been written in rhyme and rhythm. The rhyme scheme is:
aaa
bbb
cc
dd

The meter is trimeter in line 6, tetrameter in line 8 and iambic pentameter in line 10

· Awarded third prize in "Invalid Item, The "Try This" Contest -Round 3, by Cookie ~ Jumping w/ Joy, Cookie ~ contemplatingareturn
